Olive Blessing

The breath in the stillness of the wait

Divine creature
She’s blessed me so
With her sweet and sour
Perfect little glow

She was among
My colony to start
Shy little baby
Little shadow heart

Out of nowhere
There was an uproar
Dogs bent on chaos
Burst her shelter door

So glad I heard
Ran like hell to her
Scared them away
Before worse could occur

Cradled her gently
Soft in my arms
I tended her wounds
Kept her safe from harm

Somewhat spicy
Sass purely divine
She almost gave up
But chose my lifeline

Almost a year
Since she was born
How deeply I fell
In love with her warmth

Now she’s fading
Doctor tell me why
And what I can do
To keep her by my side

Waiting for tests
The minutes drag longer
We should know soon
If she can get stronger

The fear so real
It palpates the room
Praying for recovery
To chase away my gloom

Finally answers
To my deepest prayers
A chance to help her
My hope at last flairs

Now days later
She’s eating again
Her sassy side showing
Oh, she makes me grin
