Your father sounds like he was an incredible man. The fact that you still talk to him, even one-sided, shows love doesn't end with death. I still talk to my mom, too. She passed in 2017. The woman refuses to whisper those lotto numbers to me lol

Your story matters, and your choice to keep staying matters.

Thank you for sharing your story, Liora.

Thanks Neela, it means a lot that you took the time to read my story here. Your mother sounds pretty incredible to inspire that devotion in you, as well.

And I know exactly what you mean about those lotto numbers, like… cmon?!?

Thank you, seriously. 💜

This piece expertly connects the complexity of the devastation of 9/11 with the very real consequences of the invasion of Iraq and the lingering effects experienced by the brave women and men who served our country. I thoroughly enjoyed your reflections and the sensitivity to the scars left by a unique shared experience.

Thanks Chris, I really appreciate your time and thoughtfulness here. This is something I've mostly held inside. It was good to feel safe enough to share these experiences with you all. I can't truly express how much that means to me. 💜
