I’m Liora. I write because I have to.

I’m a mother. A veteran. I’ve worked in criminal justice systems, lived through trauma, and helped others rebuild after everything collapsed.

I don’t write from theory. I write from lived experience. Some of it brutal. All of it real.

So here we are. Dressed in our best. Ready to lay this shit down.

Poetry, essays, fragments, grief, anger, meaning. It all lives here.

Some pieces first appeared on my original site, Liora Writes. I’ve moved everything here and am now posting the rest. Slowly. Intentionally.

Some are for healing.
Some are for raging against injustice.
Some come from the in-between moments, usually when I’m surrounded by cats.

All of it is honest.

I don’t write for algorithms. I write for connection, clarity, and the hope that saying something real still matters.

If you're here, thank you. Truly.

Where I am now

My disabilities are getting louder. To stay healthy, I’m building a sustainable work-from-home life that lets me keep creating. I care for a feral and free-roaming cat colony. I’m starting grad school. Writing is the thread that holds all of this together.

Why I opened the gates

I monetized at first because the most vulnerable work needed consent and care. Not to chase dollars, but to slow things down so the deepest pieces weren’t treated like scroll fodder. This community helped me feel less exposed and more liberated. So, the publication is open. If the work helps you, take it in.

A note on content & tone:

The work you’ll find here spans the emotional spectrum. Some pieces are soft and reflective, others are blunt, rage-soaked, or profane when the moment calls for it.
I write from lived experience: military, trauma, neurodivergence, healing, advocacy… And I speak plainly.
This space won’t coddle, but it will hold. You are always invited to engage, disagree, reflect, or step away when needed.

Take care of yourself here. I’ll do the same.
