Tolstoy says something about being stopped in his tracks, while reading poems, and asking "Now why did the poet do that?" This happens all the time. It's part of the code-breaking. When a word or phrase appears that's arresting, it does two things: it challenges my perceptions of seeing/hearing/feeling, and it moves me into new territory. By this I mean an altered state of awareness that's akin to an extended daydream, where all my senses conspire to provide fertile and syntactically engaging words or lines. It happens rarely, but when I'm there I tend to make the most of it, for days sometimes.
This stopped me square in my tracks, Liora! I do believe that you are a powerful thinker with mad skills and because of that I wish for a correspondence. I am going to subscribe in hopes you do the same. I imagine our bonded will power with these exercises will bear much fruit. I'll be in touch. Liora; do keep me on your long distance radar. In the joy of eternal collaboration from shore to shore
Thank you for such a beautiful response. I’m honestly a little blown away by it. Sun-Kissed Moments came from a quiet, early ride when everything around me felt light and present. I’d just passed a couple with their joyful pup, and a little further on I saw the zigzag of his happy pawprints along the water’s edge. That small, playful trail inspired me, and the words began to flow. Before long, I had to pull over under the shade and write.
It means so much to know that something written in that state of peace connected with you in the way you described. I deeply appreciate your words and your subscription, and I’ll carry your encouragement with me.
And of course, I’m heading over to check out your work now. 💜
Thanks so much for reading! This was written in a state of pure presence and joy. Those moments are harder to come by with so much struggle in the world now. Think it makes it especially important to capture them when they do💜
I thought of you the other day. I wondered if you heard poetry like I occasionally do. I heard poetry while working. I didn’t write it down. It flowed so easily through my mind. I once wrote poetry and now I wonder if I will write it again. This poem is such a great example of how the beauty of poetry is every experience we have. Thank you for sharing. 🦋💚
Thanks so much for reading! I do! I think I always have really. But now I capture it, either by writing or a voice app on my phone. That’s actually what I was talking about in #PoetProblems lol. I’d love to read what comes to you in those moments! 💜
