Caution: This one has teeth!
I’ve been thinking
More
About writing
Down
All my crazy thoughts
With all this spinning
In my head
All the time
So hard to think…
I get lost
Thoughts end up
All tangled
Weaving about
People nearest to me
Sometimes scream
Even shout
Just to get me
To notice
They need some of
My time
All my focus, a slice
Just won’t do
Crap, now I’m
Thinking in rhyme...
What’s wrong with me—
You say
Why can’t I be normal?
“Why not follow the herd?”
I tried that before
Never worked out for me
Mind keeps screaming
But never heard
Damn, I may be broken
I can’t seem to stop
Is this rhyming forever
Or will I finally pop?
Will this come out at work
Will they even take notice
Or will they think, “Yeah,
She’s finally broken"
Fuck it, I say
Let them come on
Roll up my sleeves
Oh, hell yeah, it’s on!
To give voice to all those
Lost ones forgotten
Drain every last drop
‘Til I finally hit the bottom

For the ones whose brains never shut up and the moment we stop apologizing for it.
Originally published on Ghost site on 5/24/25, this was among the first poems written in the weekend of 30+ poems that kicked this whole thing off for me. For those of you unfamiliar with The Maxx and, therefore, the Crappon in a Hat — in this episode, Maxx has a delusional dream, while passed out on the couch with the cartoon playing. He dreams he’s in the Crappon’s world where he can’t stop rhyming and his struggles play out in cartoon fashion as he’s mocked by the Crappon.
The show is strange and brilliant, and I highly recommend it. — Liora

I write stuff in my head all the time and then I realize I haven’t really been in the ten minute conversation that has been going on right in front of me. Thank you for sharing. 🦋💚
This is a very beautiful poem!
