The Balance

⚠️ CW: political themes

Once there was chaos
All clung to their own
All for survival
Fought back the unknown

Through millennia
They started to see
Grouped all together
Much stronger they’d be

But over ages
“High-borns” stood apart
Ruled over others
Division would start

Time and again they
Sowed their demise
With their lives so
Polluted by lies

Then came the time when
The people stood fast
Built democracy
A world meant to last

True, not quite perfect
But most could endure
They lived for freedom
Liberty so pure

Now this is threatened
Hanging in balance
Where are our morals?
Resurrect valiance

Time has come to stand
Where we all must fight
Preserve our freedom
To do what is right

Author's Note:
He promised greatness. He meant control.
He said we wouldn’t need elections. What he meant was, he wouldn’t.
The Balance isn’t about the myth of democracy.
It’s about the moment we choose whether to keep it.
